Our recent Mommune Beach Retreat was an absolute blast!
It’s one thing to gather a handful of tired moms, kids in tow, and quite another to see them all thrive together in an environment designed for relaxation and fun. We had such a great time!
The best part? The kids were absolutely amazing. They all got along so well and were so happy to have built in friends to play with. Sure, we had to step in for the occasional squabble – you know how it goes – but for the most part, they were so independent. Having their friends around made all the difference!
With the kids playing happily, we even had moments for adult conversation! Sitting down and chatting about anything other than snack schedules and bedtime routines was pure magic. We laughed, reminisced, and shared much-needed grown-up time.
At one point, I sat down to read and immediately fell asleep. I reappeared a couple hours later, and the kids had played so well that no one even noticed I had disappeared!! Can you imagine?! I didn’t hear “mom, mom, mom” for an entire uninterrupted nap!!! 5 stars. 12/10. Highly recommend! 🙂
Meal times were so. Damn! Easy! Each meal felt natural and effortless. Everyone pitched in, and it never felt busy or chaotic. No one was asking what’s for dinner or standing around awkwardly in the kitchen. It was as if everything just flowed seamlessly. Moms are amazing!!!
One of the sweetest moments for me was when I got to snuggle a sweet sleeping baby so mom could play in the ocean with her big kid. So fun to watch them enjoy each other, and if you know me, you know there’s nothing I love more than snuggling a little baby!!
In addition to our beloved beach time, we had some wonderful outings. The ferry ride to Southport stands out – the kids loved feeding the seagulls off the back of the boat! Thursday night fireworks were also a highlight. Some went to watch up close, while others of us with sound sensitivities and early to bed kiddos stayed back and watched them from our porch!
The camaraderie made this retreat an unforgettable experience.
The Mommune is truly a testament to how powerful and rejuvenating a community of supportive moms can be. Here’s to many more retreats filled with fun, laughter, and a bit of well-deserved relaxation!
Can’t wait to see you on our next group outing–this time on a cruise ship, which means dads are allowed. 😉
